Because of the potential hazard of foodborne illness, I urge consumers who have purchased the suspect product not to eat it and return it to the place of purchase, said Margaret OK. Glavin, FSIS acting administrator. FSIS is informing the public so consumers who may have purchased and stored the product in their refrigerators or freezers can know to check. Diners may also wish to ask if their meal contains the recalled products.

Sugardale Foods identified this problem after receiving a consumer complaint. No illnesses or injuries associated with consumption of these products have been reported. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a physician.

Consumers with questions about the recall may contact Bill Eisel, Director of Quality Assurance, Sugardale Foods, at (800) 860-6777. Media with questions may contact Phil Whitfield, President of Media Vision at (312) 274-2322.
