Kashi company voluntarily recalls Kashi granola bars and Bear Naked granola due to potential health risk related to sunflower seeds and Listeria monocytogenes.
Kashi Company announced a voluntary recall of Kashi® Trail Mix Chewy Granola Bars and Bear Naked® Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter in the continental United States because they contain ingredients made from sunflower seeds distributed by our supplier, SunOpta, that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, people with diabetes, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
The company has received no reports of illness to date but is taking this action as part of its commitment to the health and safety of the people who eat its foods.
